Oktober Vasylenko likes his adventures to be safe, warm, and preferably inside, in the pages of a book. But the rest of the Vasylenko family love the outdoors, always tramping through the slimy, grimy, and climby wild to see what thrills they can find. And tomorrow, Oktober will be joining them. Even if he's scared, even if he gets lost, even if he finds the monster called the Wilderness, a nasty, scary thing with sharp teeth that can smoosh children. But as Oktober finds out, sometimes, in the joy of getting lost, the most miraculous things are found and friends can be made. As long as Oktober is brave, anything is possible!
