Meadville Volunteer Income Tax Assistance:
The Meadville Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, or VITA, program is an affiliate of the IRS that offers free tax assistance and preparation to Crawford County residents who earn $28,000 or below. The VITA program is hosted annually at Meadville Public Library.
Meadville VITA will begin accepting client documentation on Friday, February 26, 2021.
The operations this spring will be limited to households with an adjusted gross income of $28,000 or below. There are also no appointments this year. VITA will prepare 400 tax returns on a first-come-first-served basis. Preparation will also be limited to Federal and State Income tax returns (no local income tax forms). Historically, VITA has prepared PA-1000 forms: Property tax rebate forms but they are unable to prepare them this year, please contact Active Aging or State Rep Roae’s office for assistance.
Area taxpayers will need to bring all tax documentation to the Meadville Public Library. You must then fill out an Intake Sheet that must be completed and placed in an envelope with all documents (intake sheets and envelopes provided at a dropbox near the side entrance), then seal the envelope and write the taxpayers last name on the outside of the envelope and place it in the dropbox. You will be contacted once the returns have been completed or during preparation, if preparers have questions about your details or return.
Meadville VITA can answer questions at email@example.com or 814-813-1350 (please note that there is no one available to answer live calls.) They have a very limited pool of volunteers this tax season, so please be patient.
