Robert Lawson

Robert Lawson was both an author and an illustrator. He was the first person to receive both the Newbery Medal (Rabbit Hill, 1945) and Caldecott Medal (They Were Strong and Good, 1940). The books he illustrated include The Story of Ferdinand by Munro Leaf and Mr. Popper’s Penguins by Richard and Florence Atwater.

The anniversary of his birth is October 4th!
